| Aikido of Central Pennsylvania offers classes in the West Shore area of Harrisburg / Mechanicsburg. Classes are held at Twin Ponds West located on Salem Church Rd in Mechanicsburg. Ongoing classes are Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00PM to 8:30PM and Saturday mornings from 9:30AM to 11:00AM. In addition to the regular schedule, there will also be two classes during the first weekend of each month on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. For more details and a free introductory class, please contact the instructor, Norman Primmer @ (717)829-5640 or e-mail @ aikinorm@aol.com. Aikido is a not only a martial art, but also a way of life. Much of what is learned in Aikido, as well as many martial arts, can be used in everyday life. Aikido uses a non-aggressive, non-violent approach to self-defense. Aikido blends with the energy of the attacker and redirects the energy into an area that is beneficial to both, the attacker and the person being attacked. All classes focus on centering and balance through the use of training and techniques learned. Students learn and advance based on skill testing rather than sparring with partners. This non-competitive approach is part of the ideas of the founder of the art, Morehei Ueshiba. |
